Meditation - Guided Meditation or Free-Form?
If you need a little stress relief with meditation download one of the many guided meditation recordings that you can find online.
This article will not be a review of the different guided meditation CDs or guided meditation MP3 files you can find online. I'll save that for another report. Suffice it to say, you can find free guided meditation downloads of varying types with just a Google search. Finding meditation online is often just a mouse click or two away.
Even many of the online meditation courses like the Instant Advanced Meditation course allow you to get instant guided meditation instruction online at no cost… usually as a "sample" of the type of meditation.
I will though, point out that there are a few different types of guided meditation techniques, and depending on your situation, one might be better than another.
For example, some guided meditations involve an instructor giving you images to imagine. Like traveling down a path, or going into a cave, or walking downstairs into deeper and deeper rooms.
These guided meditations can be very helpful for relaxation, but obviously are not the best thing to do if you were sitting at your computer in a busy office, where you don't want to look like you are taking a nap.
Even more, some of those guided relaxation imagery types of meditation are supposed to give you an out of body or astral travel experiences. Probably not the best thing to be doing if your body is being paid to be in itself from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m..
A different guided meditation type is simply standard meditation instruction. That is, the meditation teacher guides you through the practice, say, following the breath, or some sort of chakra guided meditation, or some of the meditation new techniques.
This is what you'll find with the Instant Advanced Meditation Course. You'll be given instructions about how to do the practice… but after you know the technique, you can go off on your own and you won't need the CDs.
Some of these guided meditation downloads are easier to incorporate in your daily life, because they don't require you to close your eyes, or encourage you to drift off to sleep, or leave your body (whatever that means). And this is one of the big issues I hear all the time: integrating meditation into daily life.
I would think of these guided meditation techniques more like mini-vacations than a practice you'll use, let alone integrate, in your daily life.
